Disc Jam Presents a Stacked Lineup at an Awesome New Venue

Disc Jam Presents a Stacked Lineup at an Awesome New Venue

Every summer, more and more music festivals sprout up all over the country. Some festivals build a lasting brand that continuously grows; others often fade away after a year or two. Disc Jam is one of the festivals that is here is to stay. The festival has continued to grow with a positive and professional reputation. Started by die-hard music fan Tony Scavone, this will be the festival’s 5th year in the circuit. After a few venue changes, Disc Jam has moved from Massachusetts to upstate New York.  From June 11th to 14th, it will take place in Stephentown, New York, which is a pretty central location for both Boston and New York City. After months and months of extensive planning, the Disc Jam team put together an excellent lineup with prominent headliners and solid depth.  This year is expected to be the festivals biggest thus far. Even with its moderate growth, you can still expect it to be intimate with a positive vibe.

Four nights of camping, music and disc golf will provide plenty of options for patrons throughout the weekend. With a line-up that boasts the talent of bands such as super-group Electron, Lettuce, Dopapod and Twiddle; there will be plenty of tasty jams to get down too.  That is just the tip of the iceberg as there is a plethora of other smaller bands and producers. The major thing that makes Disc Jam unique is the fact that they mix disc golf with live music. There are tons of people who enjoy both so connecting the two in a festival atmosphere is perfect. The combination between the two is unparalleled; it’s what truly sets the festival apart from others like it.

The new festival grounds are gorgeous and have founders extremely exulted about this year. Gardner’s Farm boasts seven hundred acres composed of rolling fields, a wooded forest, small pond and a serene stream that surrounds the property.  If this year goes well, it may become the permanent home for one of the northeast’s most thriving grassroots festival. The Disc Jam team has been working long and hard on transforming these grounds into a balanced union of music, art and sport. There will be four stages surrounded by scenic landscapes of grassy viewing areas. Disc Jam has also teamed up with the well-known Fractaltribe to develop two late-night stages into cosmic portals of fully functioning visual art. Besides the incredible artistry that’ll be scattered throughout the property, the disc golf course will be awesome. This year, the 9-hole course will be on-site so campers won’t have to take a shuttle down the road to play a round or two.  There will be daily tournaments along with open play that everyone should take advantage of. If you don’t have your own discs, don’t worry; there will be loaners. Innova Disc Golf has sponsored the festival and donated a bunch of gear to help out.

It may be hard to believe but Disc Jam offers even more than mind-blowing music, intricate art installations and a newly renovated disc golf course. Oh yeah, they also have a mini-golf course in case disc golf isn’t your thing. Over the course of the weekend there will be a multitude of daily workshops. From yoga and hula-hoop classes to wellness and holistic areas, there will be something for everyone. A wide array of craft and food vendors will offer tasteful culinary options and high-quality custom merchandise. The festival offers accessible parking, gorgeous camping areas, a breakfast diner, an ice cream parlor and much more. It really seems like Disc Jam stepped it up this year with plans on giving patrons a weekend they’ll never forget. This is the best way to start your summer off; it’s a no brainer. I know where I’ll be from June 11th to 14th and you should too. Tell your friends, pack your bags and head to Stephentown, New York for the best Disc Jam yet!
